Lake Okareka Walkway

With picturesque views of hills, native forests and reserves, Lake Okareka has a wonderful walkway that will see you exploring the local wetlands. Many aquatic birds make these wetlands their home and you can expect to see birds such as swans, geese, pukekos, coots and scaups. A hide has been constructed along the boardwalk for birdwatching.

Accessibility

The wetlands boardwark track is wheelchair accessible as far as Silver Beach. This stretch of track is approximately 2km. Bathrooms along this stretch of boardwalk are wheelchair accessible. The walkway starts from a lakeside reserve on Acacia Road.
